Compassion Without Borders Rescues 22 dogs from Juarez, Mexico

Crhristi PayneWe recently got back from our latest rescue, after a long haul in a cargo van with 22mexi-mutts! We arrived after two long days driving the dogs back from the impoverished border town of Juarez, Mexico - where they were all slated to be killed at the local animal control center, which has no adoption programs.

The drive was, as it always is, exhausting and draining - but the dogs arrived safe and sound and 22 lives were saved, which makes it time and energy well spent as far as we are concerned.

The dogs will undergo a voluntary quarantine for a few weeks, complete vaccinations and deworming protocols, and receive loads of love and attention while they prepare to be sent out to various local shelters and rescue organizations for adoption.

Tripod

Rescue dog from one of the Spay and Neuter Clinics in MexicoThis dog was actually brought to our spay/neuter clinic where city officials asked us to euthanize him. He was a stray with a bum leg who had been suffering on the street for months. Thanks to the generosity of Dr.John Strathman, a volunteer veterinarian from Sebastapool, California who was at the clinic, we were able to save the dog's life by removing the destroyed limb. He was then adopted by another volunteer at the clinic who fell in love with him instantly. He is doing great in his new home and has adjusted to life on three limbs without skipping a beat!
