Dear Friend
 We all know that the true beauty of the holiday season does not lay in ornate decorations, expensive presents, or flashy Christmas garland. For me, the most fantastic part of this time of year is the widely expressed sentiment of love, joy, goodwill and hope shared amongst family and friends. That is why I decided to share Valentina’s story as my holiday greeting this year.
As discouraging as the world can feel to me at times, I never lose sight of the small miracles that help to maintain my faith in a brighter future and more compassionate world. Valentina is one of those miracles and I hope you all rejoice in her incredible story.
Thanks to all of you for your support in 2006 and here’s to another year of miracles made possible and positive, sustainable change for the animals of Mexico.

Valentina the Miracle Mutt

 The photos of Valentina arrived in my email inbox late one evening last Summer. A woman in Juarez had seen her on the street and took some pictures of her to see if we would be able to help.
The photos were so haunting I was unable to sleep that night. There were a series of snapshots of her that graphically revealed several severe injuries…
