Dear Friend
“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was within me an invincible summer”.
-Albert Camus
Winter temperatures continue to dip below freezing, while those of us at Compassion without Borders are faced with a chill that goes much deeper than seasonal frost as we embark upon this month’s big project – our statewide humane euthanasia training in the state of Chihuahua.
As an organization dedicated to alleviating the suffering of animals in Mexico, ending the barbaric practice of electrocution (the most commonly employed method of killing unwanted animals in the country) and replacing it with humane intravenous euthanasia is a project that we undeniably had to undertake.
As individuals who have dedicated our lives to protecting animals and saving them at all costs, tackling this mission is one that we do with very heavy hearts. In fact, for me personally, this particular project is one that I approach with a sincere sense of purpose and an equally genuine feeling of dread.
And, while I wish that we could save all the unwanted animals in Mexico and find them the loving homes they deserve, I begrudgingly admit that, at least for now, we cannot. But, at the very least, we can ensure that their final moments are filled with dignity, respect, and tranquility and not pain, fear, and brutality.
I hope you will take the time to read more about this important project and, as always, thanks for your support. It is at times like these that we need it more than ever.
