Dear Friend

dogsAs May settles in, the slumber of winter gives way to the bursting backdrop of Spring. This is my favorite time of year, perhaps because it is the most hopeful, and hope is a concept that Compassion without Borders is built atop of and working constantly to reinforce. Hope for the animals, hope for the folks working locally on their behalf, and hope for every one of us who understands the magnitude of the suffering we are working to combat.

With that in mind, we made ‘reinforcing hope’ the theme of this e-newsletter, which is filled with stories of our latest rescue, our upcoming spay camp this June, our rescue van update, and a tale of a dog named Papi, who is the face of hope itself. We have also included ways for you to help us reinforce hope for the animals of Mexico, including something as simple as donating your old towels.

Thank you for sharing our hopes and dream for a more compassionate world, and helping us to bring forward the programs necessary to realize them.

Humane Euthanasia Program Update

Humane EutanasiaOur humane euthanasia program continues to move forward and expand throughout the state of Chihuahua. Compassion without Borders and the Juarez animal protection group APRODEA have been working for 3 years now to end electrocution, the most commonly employed method of killing unwanted animals in Mexico. Most recently, we helped eradicate the process in the capitol city of Chihuahua, implementing it after a model program we initiated in Juarez. Click here for more details

One Issue at a Time

This section of our website educates readers about the problems facing the animals of Mexico. May’s issue is a disease that affects many of the dogs in Mexico, that is rarely seen here in the United States. It is a transmissible tumor, spread by sexual contact, that is treatable with  proper medications….click here to learn more.
