Dear *|MERGE1|*

No one ever said helping the animals of Mexico was going to be easy. And, we knew it wouldn’t be from the moment we set out to do just that. However, one aspect of the experience which we had not anticipated is the emotional rollercoaster that accompanies the bittersweet nature of our work south of the border.

Our projects, which range from the untainted joy of our international dog rescue to the somber realities of humane euthanasia, expose us to experiences of great beauty but also to scenes of unspeakable tragedy and heartache. Each stride we take forward fills us with the greatest sense of hope and inspiration, but is invariably tainted by the raw reality of the suffering we are setting out to alleviate.

The past few weeks have been no exception. We recently bottomed out emotionally after holding a humane euthanasia training seminar in a very run down animal control center in Mexico and immediately rejuvenated while saving the lives of 15 beautiful rescue dogs and visiting the impoverished neighborhood along the border where we will be launching our new campaign to provide free health care and veterinary services.

And, so it goes. Invariably the highs outweigh the lows, and the gratification of making a difference is that much sweeter after feeling  deeply the pain of the animals you are working so hard to help.

We remain more committed than ever to this work and thank you for your support and participation.

Fifteen More Meximutts Migrate Northward

We just got back with the latest group of rescue dogs and all 15 are now safe and sound in northern California. We loaded up the meximutts in Juarez and began our two day road trip across the deserts and valleys between there and here.  The dogs enjoyed potty breaks every two to three hours  as we rotated out different dogs out of their travel crates to sit on our laps for each leg of the trip.

As always, by the end of the journey we became very bonded to each one and grateful beyond belief that we were able to save their lives.

Help us to get a new autoclave!

Compassion without Borders desperately needs an autoclave (machine used to sterilize surgical instruments) for our spay and neuter clinics in Mexico. Our old autoclave which we have had repaired on multiple occasions, is finally beyond saving and we must invest in a new one to ensure optimal care and hygiene for the animals we service. The models of autoclaves we need for our purposes cost around $1,500.00

Stopping Electrocution One City at a Time

Find out how we managed to end electrocution in Cuahtemoc, Mexico a few weeks ago – stripping the animal control facility of a grotesque machine used to kill animals in their care. Click here for full text.

Have you adopted a Meximutt who has changed your life?

CWOB is currently looking for stories from the wonderful folks that have adopted Meximutts. We are planning on starting up a new spot on our website to share the stories of these dogs and their new families and would love to hear what you have to say! Please send us an email and any photos you may have if you would like to be included in this fun new project.
