February's Rescue Dogs Sneak Preview

Paloma
Paloma Rescue dog From Mexico in one of the spay and neuter clinicsSweet Paloma found her way to our spay and neuter clinic last October, where she arrived with an injured leg that was deformed and infected. When our doctors examined her, they recommended that the leg be amputated due to the severity and chronicity of the injury.
The woman who had brought Paloma to the clinic to be spayed told us she would not accept Paloma back if we had to amputate the leg and asked that we euthanize her.

One look at Paloma's adorable face and we knew euthanasia was not an option.

We decided to rescue her and one of volunteer
veterinarians, John Strathman, performed the amputation at the clinic.
Paloma has since been recovering from surgery in the home of a great local volunteer in Mexico and is now ready to make the long trip North with us this February. She will be adopted out through our partner organization, CAPE.

Chachito

Cachito - Compassion without Borders rescue dog

Chachito was also rescued from being killed at an animal control center in Mexico. His history is unknown, but he was found in very poor conditions - emaciated and matted and covered in ticks. He has since been fostered by local volunteers who have helped him to recuperate with lots of TLC and some basic medical care. He is now happy, healthy, and ready to find his way into the loving home he deserves.

Lala

Lala one of the rescue dogs from mexicoLaLa , a little five year old Cocker Spaniel, is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. She is calm. She is affectionate. She is well mannered. She is perfect. LaLa was dumped at animal control in Juarez by her family,
who said they were moving. She had lived with them since she was a puppy. When local volunteers found her in the crowded cage, she was frightened and unsure, but still unbelievably sweet. She was rescued a few months ago and has been waiting for us to bring her back to California to be adopted out ever since A wonderful local volunteer has cared for LaLa in her home, helping her to transition after the shock being abandoned and making sure LaLa is healthy, happy, and ready for the long drive back to California.
