Sweet 16 Safely Stateside
After two days and 1200 miles in a rental van, we just arrived to California on February 20th with our latest batch of dogs that we rescued from being killed in Juarez, Mexico. We arrived exhausted and relieved, and the sweet 16 are all safely awaiting adoption through our various rescue partners Small Dog Rescue, CAPE, Animal Place, Peninsula Humane Society, and the Santa Cruz SPCA.

Meet a few of our most recent rescues:

Milly
Sweet Milly wants little more than to engage you in play and kiss your face. She is a beautiful young dog with a lovely disposition and her whole life ahead of her. Milly was abandoned at the Juarez animal control center and rescued by local volunteers in Juarez. |
Gigi
Gigi was found at the local animal control center after being abandoned. She gave birth in one of the cages and, tragically, both of her puppies died due to the extreme cold of the outdoor cage. When volunteers found Gigi she was standing guard over her dead pups. The volunteers delicately removed the puppies and scooped up Gigi, bringing her to a foster home where she awaited her rescue to California!

Chumeca and Nelson
Chumeca and Nelson were tied in a plastic bag with a third dog and left in front of animal control. By the time employees found them in the morning, the third dog had died. Chumeca and Nelson were rescued and are now both thriving in foster homes here in California.

Iris
Iris is one of our most tragic stories. She had her leg brutally cut off by her owners in an inexplicable act of cruelty. Neighbors called animal control who took Iris from her home, only to bring her to be euthanized at animal control. Local volunteers rescued her and she is now doing well and recovering beautifully with volunteers in Santa Cruz.

Doris
Sweet little doris is as friendly as she is cute. Doris is blind, but that doesn’t slow her down for one minute and she functions almost completely
normally. Doris was found on the streets of Juarez, matted and frightened, but is now living in the lap of luxury with foster parents here in California where she is protected and adored!

Max
Max is simply one of the most adorable puppies we have ever met. He was
part of an entire litter of pups being euthanized at animal control in
Juarez. A kindhearted volunteer decided to rescue one puppy out of the
litter, and Max was the lucky one. Thank goodness he was saved, because he
is an absolutely beautiful little soul with a heart as big as his giant
sized paws!
