Although CWOB is a small, grassroots, all volunteer organization - we get a lot accomplished. Each year our projects grow. Check out what we got done in 2006:
SPAY CAMPS SOUTH OF THE BORDER
Our 2006 Mexico spay camps provided free sterilization services, vaccinations, deworming, and flea and tick control for animals in some of the poorest regions of Mexico. In 2006 we serviced over 600 animals at these clinics! Click here to read more about our Mexico spay camps.
CONTINUING OUR FIGHT AGAINST ANIMAL ELECTROCUTION IN MEXICO
CWOB continued our humane euthanasia campaign in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico in 2006, making great strides. In addition to the city of Juarez, the capitol city of Chihuahua has now stopped electrocuting animals and has moved to humane intravenous euthanasia.
In October, CWOB and local animal protection group APRODEA held meetings with top government officials in the Department of Health. After our presentation on the importance of ending electrocution, the government agreed to work closely with us to terminate electrocution statewide in 2007 and have publicly stated their commitment to raising awareness about this critical issue.
SAVING LIVES
We saved over 100 lives in 2006 through our international dog rescue program. Each one of these animals overcame incredible odds -- leaving their backgrounds of neglect, cruelty, homelessness or abandonment safely South of the border as they began their new lives in loving homes in California. HUMANE EDUCATION
Realizing that the path to true progress for the animals of Mexico must be built upon a firm foundation of humane education and outreach, CWOB kicked our humane education focus into high gear in 2006. Click here to read how.
