Charitable Donation Acceptance Policy for Compassion Without Borders

Compassion Without Borders (CWOB) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all of our activities. This policy outlines the guidelines for accepting charitable donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities.

1.- Ethical Standards

CWOB will not accept donations from individuals or entities that engage in activities that are in conflict with our mission or values. We will utilize all donations toward the realization of our mission.

2.- Types of Donations

CWOB accepts donations in the form of cash, checks, credit card payments, stock donations, planned giving vehicles and in-kind gifts. We also accept donations through our website, social media, and other online platforms. If a donation is out of our scope to process or receive, we may refer the donor to other resources to facilitate their giving plans.

3.- Restrictions on Donations

CWOB reserves the right to refuse any donation that is not in alignment with our mission and values. We will not accept donations that are illegal, unethical, or that may compromise our independence or integrity. Additionally, we do not accept donations that are conditional upon the performance of specific activities or programs, or that restrict our ability to use the funds in accordance with our mission and values.

4.- Recognition of Donors

CWOB recognizes and appreciates all donors who contribute to our organization. We will acknowledge all donations with a thank-you letter or email, and provide a tax receipt for all donations over $250. We may also publicly recognize donors in our annual report, website, or other publications, unless they request anonymity.

5.- Confidentiality of Donor Information

CWOB refrains from trading, selling, or sharing a donor’s personal information for external third-party fundraising or marketing activities.

Our team is accountable for upholding the confidentiality of records containing the identities or personal details of the Organization’s contributors or potential contributors. We do not vend our donor rosters. In accordance with relevant laws or regulations, CWOB will make reasonable endeavors to honor the preferences of donors who wish to remain anonymous during the donation process and/or who seek to have their identities concealed from any publicly accessible materials that acknowledge or highlight them.

6.- Stewardship of Donations

CWOB is committed to using donations in a responsible and effective manner. We will use donations in accordance with our mission and values, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We will also provide regular reports on our activities and financial performance to our donors, supporters, and the public.

7.- Decision-making Process

CWOB has a designated staff member responsible for accepting and processing donations. All donation inquiries will be reviewed and evaluated by our staff to ensure they meet our ethical standards and are aligned with our mission and values.

8.- Changes to the Policy

CWOB may revise this policy from time to time as necessary to reflect changes in our operations, legal requirements, or best practices. Any changes to this policy will be communicated to our donors and supporters. We are grateful for the support of our donors and committed to maintaining their trust and confidence in our organization.
